"Her mum bought her a beaded bracelet. Said it had been blessed. Wear it and travel safe.
She didn't believe in that kind of thing. But she put it on, because her mum had bought it.
One business trip, she got caught in bad traffic. Arrived late. The meeting fell through.
Feeling deflated, she touched the bracelet. Thought: blessed and still useless. Oh well.
On the way back, because the meeting had collapsed, she rebooked an earlier flight.
She found out later that her original flight had been grounded for ten hours due to a mechanical fault.
She touched the bracelet again. Couldn't quite name what she felt.
Maybe protection isn't about the blessing. Maybe the bracelet reminded her that someone was thinking of her.
