My name's on that list. Fourteen months later, her manager called her in. Team lead. ""Why me?"" she asked. He thought about it. ""Because you're the kind of person who doesn't sand down her own edges."" She went back to her desk and sat quietly for a long time. Some things are written on you from day one. It just depends on whether you let them stay. Her story gave us this design. Principled, sharp, unwilling to smooth herself down for anyone's comfort — we made this geometric cutout ear cuff in her image: clean angular cuts, no unnecessary curves. The shape of someone who refuses to be rounded off.
